Shortly after 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT, users reported encountering playback errors, according to Downdetector and Google Trends data.

YouTube has acknowledge the outage, addressing it on its official X account shortly after 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday. The post also directed users toward its community page for ongoing updates.

“We’re aware that some of you are experiencing issues watching videos on YouTube right now,” wrote Google spokesperson Dwight Harvey. “We’re investigating the issue and will update the thread here with the latest. Really appreciate your patience.”

The outage appears to be impacting YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV, Downdetector states. It’s unclear exactly how many people have been affected, however Downdetector states that people across multiple countries have reported having issues.
